An Oregon Department of Transportation news release said the truck, whose trailer was filled with mixed greens and radishes, crashed around 9:30 a.m. near milepost seven, completely blocking northbound traffic. Oregon State Police responded along with ODOT workers as traffic backed up along I-5. ODOT spokesman Gary Leaming said these kinds of crashes aren't unusual on the Siskiyou Pass and can be caused by a variety of factors. "Truckers, if they miss a gear, if their brakes malfunction, if they get cut off by another vehicle," he said. Leaming did not know the cause of this morning's crash.  By 11:35 a.m., workers had managed to reopen one of the northbound lanes. An additional lane had opened by 4:30 p.m., and Leaming said traffic was now flowing smoothly, although salvage work was still underway on the shoulder. Leaming said ODOT planned to close the two lanes again temporarily around 8 p.m. to finish the salvage operation. The roadway is expected to be totally clear by midnight, he said. According to OSP Sgt.
