Ride & Drive: 2015 Audi Q5 Comment By Neal White More Content Now MailTribune.com By Neal White More Content Now Posted Jan. 26, 2015 at 8:29 AM By Neal White More Content Now Posted Jan. 26, 2015 at 8:29 AM » Social News I have thoroughly enjoyed my week behind the wheel evaluating the 2015 Audi Q5 TDI luxury crossover. Equipped with Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system, the Q5 has all the capabilities you expect from a five-passenger SUV/crossover, yet it retains all of the performance characteristics of an Audi. And yes, it is an absolute blast to drive on a winding country road. Consumers have their choice of five Q5 models — 2.0T, 3.0T, TDI, Hybrid and the SQ5 — available in Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels. With a base price starting at $39,300, the Q5 2.0T is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine delivering 220 horsepower and 258 lbs.-ft. torque. Mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, it requires premium unleaded gasoline and has an EPA fuel economy rating of 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway with an electronically limited top track speed of 130 mph. With a base price starting at $45,400, the Q5 3.0T is powered by a 3.0-liter supercharged V-5 engine delivering 272 horsepower and 295 lbs.-ft. torque. Mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, it requires premium unleaded gasoline and has an EPA fuel economy rating of 18 mpg city, 26 mpg highway and has an electronically limited top track speed of 130 mph with a 0-60 mph time of 6 seconds. With a base price starting at $47,500, the Q5 TDI is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V-6 engine delivering 240 horsepower and 428 lbs.-ft. torque. Mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, it requires diesel fuel and has an EPA fuel economy rating of 24 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and has an electronically limited top track speed of 130 mph with a 0-60 mph time of 6.5 seconds. With a base price starting at $51,900, the Q5 Hybrid is powered by a turbocharged I-4 and an electric motor delivering a combined output of 245 horsepower. Also mated to an eight-speed automatic, it has an EPA fuel economy rating of 24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway requiring premium unleaded fuel. For those wanting even more performance, the SQ5, with a base price starting at $52,700, is powered by a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine delivering 354 horsepower and 346 lbs.-ft. torque. It has a top track speed of 155 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 5.1 seconds. It’s luxurious. It is elegant. It is comfortable and, as I mentioned earlier, the Q5 is an absolute blast to drive. The TDI engine is amazing. In fact, I had a difficult time convincing folks it was a diesel engine. After a test drive, they didn’t believe me. I highly recommend the Audi Q5 for a test drive.
