Medford police said officers arrested Eagle Point residents Joshua Furstenburg and Joey Dinucci, both 23, Thursday afternoon, following an investigation of an early Sunday morning assault. Surveillance cameras aided investigators in tracking the men down. "This was another case made by surveillance video, which is proving to be very valuable in these 'whodunit' cases," a post on the agency's Facebook page reads. Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said the assault was reported at 1:30 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot near Porters Restaurant. Prior to that, two men and two women were walking on Main Street when Furstenburg and Dinucci reportedly started yelling at them from the other side of the street, unprovoked. "The victims decided to go ahead and call it a night because they didn't want any problems," Budreau said. The group walked to their car, parked on the south side of the restaurant. That's when police said the two men attacked, jumping from some nearby bushes. One man reportedly swung a hammer but never actually struck anyone. The other allegedly lobbed a concrete block at the group, which struck one of the male victims in the head. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance but released later that day. "We believe he's going to be OK," Budreau said. The suspects ran off before police arrived, but group provided descriptions for investigators. Police didn't disclose who is suspected of wielding the hammer and who tossed the concrete block. "We began checking the bars nearby, and we contacted 4 Daughters (Irish Pub), who remembered the suspects by clothing," Budreau said. Police obtained surveillance footage of Furstenburg and Dinucci from the pub and matched their images to their names through their IDs scanned into the 4 Daughter's computer system. Both men were arrested in the 800 block of West Rolling Hills Drive in Eagle Point Thursday afternoon. Jackson County Jail records show they remain held on charges of second- and third-degree assault. Their bails are set at more than $1 million.
