Wolf Creek man dies in rollover ... Mosquito spraying raises fears, questions ... Margaret J. McGeary Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted May. 13, 2016 at 2:00 AM Posted May. 13, 2016 at 2:00 AM » Social News We lost a truly remarkable woman, Margaret J. McGeary, a Rogue Valley resident of over 60 years Friday, May 6, 2016, in Medford, Ore . She died peacefully surrounded by family at Rogue Regional Medical Center. Margaret was born in Minnesota to parents, Russell and Nordi Gesell, and married there in 1947 to her husband, Dr. M Donald McGeary. She and her family moved west in 1953 to their Phoenix, Ore. home of 40 years on Calhoun Road. With them, the McGearys coaxed a number of other physician families, including the Watsons and Meyerdings, from the frigid Minnesota winters to this precious valley. The McGeary's engaged in their community and made many wonderful friends along the way, especially their neighbors, the Popows. Margaret and Don were always thankful for their decision to live and prosper here. Having a never-ending curiosity about all those she met, Margaret made friends and kept them. A potluck group of over 40 years, Thursday Ladies' golf, Bridge Club, Stitchery Group, Book Club, Colony Club, a faithful Candy Striper, and an active founding member of the Medford Congregational Church were just a few of the items on her busy calendar. Just as fun was her love of ocean fishing, snow skiing, watching Stanford and Ducks football games, and cross county trips in their motor home with family and other Medford couples that created a rich and joyful life. Above all, Margaret was most proud of her loving husband and four children, Marcia Argyris (George), Scott (Karen), Craig (Deb), and Doug (Debbie); her seven grandchildren, Christopher, Alison, Andrew, Megan, Michael, Malcolm, and Emilie; and her recent great-grandchildren, Margaret and Malcolm. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Gesell. Margaret's genuine enthusiasm endeared her to her children's friends as well. She never cast judgment or complained about little things and lived her life with grace, compassion, and a twinkle in her eye. During her 91 years on this earth, we loved Margaret as a grandmother, a mother, a wife, sister, and devoted friend. For those of us who knew her well, she was a constant source of strength and positivity. For most, love is not an easy feeling to put into words. Nor is loyalty, or trust, or joy. But she was all of these, and she lived life completely. We will miss you. A service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Medford Congregational United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Cheney Family Place or Medford Congregational United Church of Christ, two wonderful organizations.
