The events are geared toward giving locals a connection to the annual rodeo and creating an identity for the city. They include a cowboy and cowgirl fashion show, tailgate party, barbecue dinners, parade and a contest to find the "biggest little" yee-haw maker in the local kinder crowd. Fairgrounds event coordinator Cindy Bedingfield said the annual rodeo and locally sponsored events had grown beyond the expectations of officials. "The last two years it’s just grown so much," she said. "Everybody’s realizing it is an extreme sport and a real fun sport to watch � so I think it’s going to be a great year." Advertisement Tonight features a country western fashion show sponsored by Oh Behave clothing store, Totally Texas and Grange Co-Op. Local officials have planned a send-up of traditional rodeo events with the new Red Rock Ranch Rodeo this weekend. Events will include mutton busting, team penning, branding and — steer milking? "I’m not sure exactly how it is that happens," Bedingfield said with a laugh. Weekend events also will include a contest to find this year’s Little Miss and Mister, to be decided by the cutest country grin, best cowboy trick and biggest "yee-haw." On Monday night, locals will get into the rodeo spirit with a street dance in downtown Central Point followed by a "Show and Shine" car show, presentation of Little Miss and Mister and a barbecue in conjunction with Crater High School’s annual homecoming. On Friday night, Crater’s homecoming and the annual rodeo parade will head through downtown, kicking off the first night of the Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo. All seats this year are $12 in advance or $14 at the door. Saturday’s rodeo will feature an autograph session, face painting for kids and an after-rodeo party at the Shenandoah. Sunday is Family Day, complete with "teddy bear tie downs" for little cowboys and girls under 5, wagon rides, a marshmallow "gun building" contest, mechanical bull riding and rope trick lessons for kids. Tickets for this year’s rodeo, which begins at 7 p.m. each night, are on sale at Ray’s Food Place in Central Point, Totally Texas in Medford, Sackett’s Western Wear in Grants Pass and all Jackson County PremierWest Bank locations except for the Rogue Valley Manor branch.
