Jamey Scot Feetham, 36, of the 2900 block of Lexington Drive in Medford pleaded no contest Friday to a charge of third-degree assault in connection with the fight. In a plea agreement, Feetham was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to pay $28,449.52 in restitution. If he violates any terms of his probation, which include no alcohol and no weapons, he will be sentenced to 18 months in prison. In August 2014, witnesses said, Feetham was in an argument with his girlfriend at a wedding reception in Eagle Point. Fearing for the woman's safety, Dennis Harper reportedly tried to intervene in the argument. Defense attorney Garren Pedemonte said Harper threw the first punch and a fight ensued between the two men. "The victim punched Mr. Feetham first," Pedemonte said. "Mr. Feetham fought back." A witness said Feetham knocked the victim out and then continued to punch him in the face, according to an affidavit. The victim was treated at a hospital. He had a swollen and bruised face, and realized as days went on that he had lost almost 100 percent of the vision in one eye, Pedemonte said. Pedemonte said Feetham will pay the $28,449.52 restitution to an Oregon crime victims fund, which paid for multiple surgeries for Harper. Feetham also directly gave the victim $5,000 to help compensate him, Pedemonte said. The victim's acceptance of that money doesn't block him from filing a civil lawsuit against Feetham if he desires, Pedemonte said.
