Paul Gordon Inman Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 13, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Aug. 13, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News August 5, 1924 - August 3, 2015 Paul Gordon Inman, 90, passed away August 3, 2015 in Medford, Ore. Paul's heart was like a butterfly, ever-evolving into something greater. He loved his friends and family from the Orchards to Doughnut Country with all of his heart and had respect for every living animal. Paul served his country with distinction. He joined the U.S. Navy in July of 1943 and after leaving service school went on to graduate from the AOM School. He qualified for Aviation Machine Gunnery and was assigned to duty where his specialized training in bombs and ammo would be fully utilized. He received orders to join the Composite Squadron EIGHTY EIGHT and from his service during his 47 combat missions in WWII, from New Guinea to Iwo Jima, was afterwards awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses for “heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight while serving in Composite Squadron EIGHTY EIGHT, attached to the U.S.S. SAGINAW BAY and U.S.S HOGGATT BAY during operations against enemy Japanese forced in Okinawa Area, from March 25 to April 29, 1945. Completing his twentieth mission during this period, INMAN contributed materially to the success of his squadron. His gallant devotion to duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service." Paul also received the Air medal. After his service in the U.S. navy, Paul went on to become an artist and a builder, building homes in the Hollywood Hills. He was a loyal and loving father to his children, David (who predeceased him in a motorcycle accident), Gary, Jeannie; sister, Cindy, his best buddy" and loving step-daughter, Pam; stepchildren, Mark (Bonnie), Rick, and Sandy; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He and his ex-wife, June, had always remained good friends and lived on their farm together, taking care of the family animals and horses which he loved to paint. Paul had a dream of one day building an art school in the Applegate Valley. A funeral service with U.S. Navy honors with the Navy Armored Guard and a 21-gun salute, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. I love you Paul and Dad.
