MEDFORD The Rogue River Produce association closed the largest Bartlett sale of the year Wednesday when they sold at private sale, Chicago, ten cars of Blue Triangle Bartletts at $1.65 f. o. b. Medford, and followed it up by the sale of another car at $1.75 f. o. b. Medford, Thursday. Picking of Bartletts will begin next week. Auction prices Thursday for California Bartletts in eastern markets were as follows: New York, $2.40; Boston, $1.95; Philadelphia, $2.30; Chicago, $2.25. The Chicago auction price of $2.25 is the equivalent of $1.29 f. o. b. Medford. The Southern Pacific has ordered 450 fruit refrigerator cars for the valley pear crop, which is estimated at from 500 to 700 cars. Bartletts are sizing rapidly and are in fine condition. LOCAL AND PERSONAL A Ford roadster, owned by the Medford Fruit Co., and driven by A. F. Finger, collided with a bicycle, ridden by C. L. Wilson Wednesday evening at six o'clock. The accident occurred at the corner of Main and Front streets. Finger was drifting the car south along Front, while Wilson was pedaling west up Main. It was alleged that the car was traveling faster than the eight miles an hour required by city ordinance at street crossings. The tracks where the wheels of the car were slid, showed also that the car was in the center of the street, instead of keeping to the right. Finger took Wilson to a repair shop, where he settled for all damages to the wheel. Wilson was not injured. A party of San Francisco sportsmen, headed by E. L. Bosqui, arrived Wednesday night and Thursday morning proceeded to Rogue Elk Resort where they will spend six weeks fishing. The other members of the party are J. E. Harlan and Nat Goas and chauffeur. Mr. Bosqui spent a month last summer camping and fishing on the banks of the Rogue and was so delighted with the sport that he returned this year bringing his friends.
