Shortly after 5 p.m., detectives from the Medford Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division, along with members of the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team, served a search warrant at 540 Midway Road. While police aren't releasing the purpose of the search warrant, Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau described the home as a known "drug house." "It's actually been on our radar for the past 15-20 years," he said. Detectives found 16 people on the property at the time of the raid, along with meth, heroin and drug paraphernalia inside the house. Police arrested six of the 16 on outstanding warrants. Those arrested were: Joshua Stephen Massey, 25, on a warrant for interfering with a police officer and failure to appear on a probation violation for burglary; Jody Dale Park, 39, on a warrant for resisting arrest, interfering with a peace officer and first-degree harassment; Kylee Rae Johnson, 24, on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of third-degree theft; Sven Xerxes Blanz, 28, on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of second-degree criminal trespass; Joshua Ray Dyck, 23, on a warrant for failure to appear on a probation violation for second-degree burglary, failure to appear on a charge of second-degree escape, failure to appear on a charge of interfering with a peace officer and driving while suspended; Casey Ray Tumey, 26, on a warrant for driving while suspended. Budreau said the department has received numerous complaints from neighbors about drug trafficking activity at the house, but cleaning up this particular property isn't as simple as kicking the tenants out because the  home is owned by the residents. "Most of our drug houses are rentals," he said. "It's very difficult to evict someone from their own home — as it should be." Budreau said anyone observing repeated suspicious or criminal activity at a home in their neighborhood should immediately call police. In addition to filing criminal charges, he said, authorities can use city ordinances to force homeowners to clean up their act. "There are nuisance-abatement laws that apply when you have that many calls for service at a residence," he said. Budreau said the investigation behind the search warrant is ongoing and police will likely be able to release more information next week.
