Mustangs gallop past Chieftains, 60-49 Skyline boys basketball ROGUE RIVER -- Hidden Valley struggled in the first half Saturday night then outscored Rogue River 32-18 in the final two quarters en route to a 60-49 Skyline Conference boys basketball victory. Dereck Horning and Danny Reid scored six points each in the third quarter as Hidden Valley (11-9, 7-3) outscored the Chieftains 18-11 to take a 46-42 advantage. "I told my players that we played probably our worst half of basketball this season and we were only three points down," Hidden Valley coach Robbie Tate said. "Everything we tried to do wouldn't work and every loose ball bounced to Rogue River. We felt very fortunate to be down three at half." The Mustangs made a couple of adjustments and went to work. "In the first half, we were trying too hard to press and trap," Tate said. "In the second half, we went back into solid man-to-man. We boxed out and ran the floor well. We scored tons of baskets in transition." Horning led all scorers with 18 points, while Reid added 16. Ron Wessels topped Rogue River with 13 points. Troy Fast's 15 points paced the Vikings, who led 31-24 at halftime. Willard drained four 3-pointers to add to his school record for the Phoenix (3-18, 1-10 Skyline).
