William "Bill" Cuperus Bocast & Evelyn Dolores Bocast Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jul. 21, 2016 at 2:00 AM Posted Jul. 21, 2016 at 2:00 AM » Social News Bill Bocast, 88, passed away in his sleep at December 5, 2015 Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Ore. surrounded by his beloved family. Evelyn Bocast, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep July 11, 2016 in Medford, Ore. Bill was born in Pasco, Wash. to William and Jenny Bocast. He was raised in Chico, Calif. until he joined the United States Navy at age 17. He returned to Chico to finish his education and went to work as a telephone lineman for Ma Bell. Evelyn was born March 15, 1930 in Fairbanks Alaska to Fred and Marie Obermiller. The family moved to Chico, California where she graduated from Chico High School. She worked for Ma Bell as a switchboard operator where she met her husband, Bill Bill and Evelyn were married in 1950 and moved to Anchorage, Alaska where they raised their four children. Bill retired from the Anchorage Telephone Utility after 35 years. Bill and Evelyn enjoyed traveling in their fifth wheel motor home and eventually settled in Medford, Ore. They both loved to golf - Bill enjoyed golf club repair and Evelyn was a member of the Rogue Valley Country Club and played on the Ladies League for many years. Bill also enjoyed woodworking in his shop and Evelyn enjoyed reading and gathering with her family. Surviving family members include their children, Bill and Nancy Bocast of Big Lake, Alaska, Tom and Janet Bocast of Central Point, Ore., Margie and Darrell Breckel of Medford, Ore., and Gary and Karen Bocast of Roseville, Calif.; Evelyn's brother, Fred and his wife, Beverly Obermiller of Weed, Calif.; and grandchildren, Ashley, Kristen, and Bill Jr. They were preceded in death by granddaughter, Sarah Bocast. Evelyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and will be buried next to her husband at Perl Memorial Park. A memorial Mass will be held in their honor at 8:30 a.m. July 22, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church in Medford, Ore.
