Letters, Aug. 30 By Ashland Tidings readers Aug 30, 2019 12:00 AM A A Not health care GoFundMe is not health care. A quarter million GoFundMe campaigns are launched each year to pay for medical bills, and $650 million is spent on medical GoFundMe campaigns annually. It’s outrageous that people must resort to begging from friends and family through GoFundMe when they get sick. Our profit-driven health care system is both immoral and unaffordable. Medicare for all is the solution. With Medicare for all, everyone would have access to guaranteed, quality health care — including dental, vision, mental health and long-term care — with no premiums, copays or deductibles. All doctors and all hospitals would be in-network for anyone who needs care. Congress should support the Medicare for All Act of 2019 (H.R. 1384/S. 1129) so not one more person will die unnecessarily or face financial ruin if they or a loved one gets sick.
