When the former member of rock band Sleeping With Sirens isn't writing and recording music, he's taping a new podcast, "Barkeeper," with his friend Joe Moxley for Deliradio. "We tape our interviews and open talks at Suite C in Medford," Lawson says. "It's kind of like our warehouse where I keep my recording studio and Joe keeps a screen-printing shop for his clothing store, Legionnaire. We set up a small stage and a personal bar for a clubhouse of sorts. That's where the name of the podcast comes from." Suite C is at 588 Parsons Drive, off of Sage Road. Lawson and Moxley's first podcast featured Mike Herrera,  vocalist and bass guitarist for punk band MxPx, and was done at Herrera's studio in Bremerton, Wash. "I'd recorded songs at Mike's studio," Lawson says. "He's doing his own show for Deliradio, and he threw out the idea that Joe and I should do one. So, about five weeks ago, we sat down with Mike and talked about music, culture, tattoos and so on. We liked how it went, and Deliradio liked it. Joe and I have four podcasts out, and we're going to keep going." The podcasts are released every Thursday on Deliradio, an online concert network founded by a small music label in Berkeley, Calif., that tracks live music around the country. Go to www.deliradio.com and search Medford to find live bands playing at Rocky-Tonk, Howiee's, Brickroom, Musichead and other venues. The site also includes biographical information about the bands and their music tracks. "Deliradio branched off to include talk podcasts," Lawson says. "And music festivals will set up Deliradio pages to include information about the groups performing, and create a station with songs from each of the featured bands." Along with musicians, "Barkeeper" profiles such local celebrities as chef Braden Hitt of Downtown Market Co., newscaster Whitney Clark of KTVL Channel 10, photographer Ryan McKinnon and others. "We have people who are interested in talking to us," Lawon says. "We try to keep the podcasts based around creative aspects." Lawson and Moxley were raised in the Rogue Valley. Lawson joined Sleeping With Sirens right out of high school and toured the globe. "Anytime I'd come home, Joe and I would hang out," Lawson says. "He's tuned in to the local music scene." About 18 months ago, Lawson and his wife welcomed their first child into the world, and Lawson chose not to tour 300 days a year. He bought a house in Talent and started playing and recording his solo music. He's released two singles: The newest, "New Orleans Train," charted at No. 16 on iTunes. His full-length album, recorded at Herrera's studio, is being mixed and mastered in L.A., with a release date set for late May. Lawson, 25, has more than 230,000 followers on Twitter and another 135,000 or so on Instagram. His fan base is in the age range of 17 to 25. "The podcast's are a cool way to relate to fans," he says. "Most of them know me as the guitarist for Sirens or as a songwriter. When you're touring the world on million-dollar buses, it's easy to get the idea that all of life is glamorous. With the Deliradio talks, they get to know me as a normal dude who goes to the store to shop for diapers.
