His family moved to Ashland in 1940 and he graduated from Ashland High School in 1942. During the War years he spent time in the Seattle area working in a shipyard. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1946-1948. After the service he attended Business School in Nampa, Idaho. He then returned to Ashland and was living with his aunt when she hired Nona Johnson, a college student, to help with cooking and cleaning in exchange for room and board. Nona and Lloyd were married November 12, 1950. Lloyd found employment at Ashland Accounting and Tax Service and later purchased the business when the owner retired. He continued as the sole proprietor for over 30 years until his own retirement in 1994. Lloyd was an active member of the Ashland Kiwanis Club for 50 years serving as treasurer and president and earning the nickname “Red Debit.” He was also a member of the Ashland Elks for many years. Lloyd and Nona were active members of the Good Sam Club and enjoyed camping with the group until health issues limited his ability to travel. He was an avid gardener and kept the extended family well supplied with fresh fruits and vegetables for many years. He also enjoyed spending time with family at their cabin at Lake of the Woods. Lloyd and Nona had four children; Lois (Robert) Schroeder, Milwaukie, Ore.; Alan who passed away in August of 2014, Jeanne who has recently made her home in Talent; and Jerry (Eileen), Ashland. They also have five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Lloyd is survived by a brother, Raymond (Elaine) of Medford. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys who passed away in 2011. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, 1811 Ashland Street, Ashland, Oregon 97520. Private inurnment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland, Ore. The family requests that in lieu of flowers you consider making a memorial contribution to the Michael J.
