"We had a real good team effort," said North Medford head coach Tim Karrick. "I was impressed with the girls coming off the bench. They kept the energy and the intensity up." Kerstin Mellbye led North Medford (7-6 overall, 2-1 SOC) with 25 points and 16 rebounds. "KU played man defense, and we wanted to take advantage of that by getting the ball inside," said Karrick. Anna Lilly kept the North Medford offense rolling with five assists and eight points while tormenting KU with three steals. "She’s our best wing defender, then for her to have a good offensive game is a real plus," said Karrick. Jenni Ritter topped the Pelicans (0-3 SOC) with 12 points. The Grizzlies (10-3, 3-0 SOC) built leads of 47-32 late in the first half and 32-16 midway through the third period, but the Panthers fought back both times to make it close. Senior post Julia Sobolik added 13 points and six rebounds for Ashland, while sophomore wing Katie Singler led South Medford (3-8, 1-2 SOC) with 15 points. The Comets (8-5 overall) earned a 31-14 halftime cushion on the strength of a 22-9 second-quarter edge. Whitney Black paced Crater with 13 points and four assists, Dani Montgomery added 11 points and Crystal Huntley combined nine points with 11 rebounds. For the Cavers (0-3 SOC), Erin Glovinsky and Shanna Claflin produced eight points apiece. Curtis scored 10 and had eight boards. After trailing by as much as 17, the Eagles pulled to within six with 1:19 to play. But eighth-ranked Roseburg persevered to become 3-0 in the SOC.
