The network announced the new show Wednesday as part of its upfront presentation to advertisers. The series looks to be in the mold of Baz Luhrmann 's Romeo + Juliet , which makes sense, since it's written and executive-produced by Lurhmann's frequent co-writer Craig Pearce. Newcomer Laurie Davidson stars as William Shakespeare, and the show is slated to launch in 2017. The pilot will be written and executive-produced by Oscar nominee Scott Smith and directed by prolific helmsman Allen Coulter . Also announced was the casting of Reno 911 's Niecy Nash in the pilot for Claws , a dark comedy about a South Florida nail salon the network describes as a, "wickedly funny meditation on female badness." These shows will potentially join a revamped TNT lineup that includes new shows Animal Kingdom , Good Behavior and the M.
