Bob was born July 17, 1939 in San Francisco, Calif. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Susan Clarke. Bob has two beloved children from his first marriage to Patricia Elkins Clarke. His children are, Robert A. Clarke Jr. (Dawn) and Kelly Clarke; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bob is also survived by four siblings: Lois Clarke Kubli, June Offenbacher, Gerald Clarke, and James Clarke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Alexander Clarke and Neva Inez Hill Clarke Doe. His family moved to Jacksonville when Bob was three years old. He attended Jacksonville School District Number One and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1957. In the late 1950s he was stationed in the Bahamas as a Navy Seabee on Eleuthera Island. His primary responsibility was the motor pool. With honorable discharge he returned to the Rogue Valley and began a long and fulfilling career in heavy equipment parts and sales. Bob collected vintage outboard motors and restored two MG sports cars. Bob and Susan shared a lifelong passion for the outdoors, fishing, elk hunting, and mule packing. For many years they were members of Southern Oregon Donkey and Mule Club. They also enjoyed traveling and attending rallies in their classic GMC motorhome throughout the Pacific Northwest and into British Columbia. On May 9, Robert Ames Clarke was laid to rest in the Clarke family plot in historic Jacksonville Cemetery. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Ruch Community Bible Church, 190 Upper Applegate Road, Jacksonville (Ruch).
