Brittney Nicole Jenkins, 28, of Central Point was in tears Thursday as she faced six felony charges in Jackson County Circuit Court. While Judge David Hoppe ensured Jenkins understood her rights in the first of the five cases, Jenkins was so visibly upset that Hoppe paused and asked whether she was OK. "She's just emotional, your honor," court-appointed defense attorney Michael Kellington said before asking the judge to continue. Emotions for Jenkins were at their highest when burglary victim Claudia Alkire ( Corrected, see below) of Gold Hill addressed the court from her wheelchair. Gray expressed concern to Hoppe that parole and probation had done a poor job of monitoring Jenkins thus far. "She has done things I wouldn't even imagine to do," Gray said. Gray said she has attended all of Jenkins' hearings since her Oct. 15 arrest and believes Jenkins has the ability to change. "I think she has potential," Gray said. Kellington said Jenkins has shown a dramatic change in her alertness during her 69 days in jail, where she has focused on her methamphetamine addiction, which he said was at the root of her crimes. On Thursday, Jenkins pleaded guilty to: Delivering methamphetamine on Sept. 17, 2014. Identity theft, which stemmed from an incident in which Jenkins posed as an account holder and withdrew funds from a bank May 29. Unauthorized use of a vehicle, after she and Verne Thayer III delivered two stolen vehicles July 23 to a body shop in Central Point. She will pay $4,149 in restitution jointly with Thayer, and was sentenced to a two-year license suspension for the crime. First-degree burglary for the Gold Hill case. According to court documents, Jenkins and Gregory Ryan Taylor stole about $2,700 worth of items. Jackson County sheriff's deputies were able to find Taylor from a fingerprint left on a window. Taylor told police the phone belonged to Jenkins, and a fingerprint on the phone was found to be Jenkins'. Felon in possession of a firearm. Jenkins was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Bradley Jay Poff, who tried to run from police during an attempted stop Sept. 25. Jackson County sheriff's deputies found six firearms in the vehicle, including two assault rifles, one of which had been reported stolen in 2012. Possession of a destructive device. She was a passenger in a car that sped from police Sept. 30. The Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement task force found an explosive device in the car. "I'm so sorry," Jenkins said to Gray. "Please get your life together. It's going to be hard. It's going to be really, really hard," Gray said. Hoppe asked Jenkins what she was doing getting involved with Poff. "I made bad choices, your honor," Jenkins said. Jenkins was sentenced to three years' supervised probation and mandatory drug treatment. If she violates any conditions of her parole, she will go to prison for 44 months. "You've obviously got a huge drug problem that's ruining your life, but you've also got a second chance to un-ruin your life," Hoppe said.
