Junior transfer Megan Kapp scored her first three goals as a Raider — notching SOU's first hat trick since Sydney Paulsen's on Aug. 21, 2013 — and Allyson Ward added her second and third of the season. Seven Raiders added one goal apiece: Lauren Aldana, Daisy Cervantes, Kylie Durant, Avery Dutton, Presley Lambert, Maddy Spangler and Makena Totushek. Totushek added two assists, while Durant, Dutton, Lambertand Lisa Elledge were each credited with one. SOU, which improved to 1-1-1 overall, outshot Simpson (0-2) by a 43-1 count, put 26 on goal and had a 15-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Raiders continue their nonleague slate at 6 p.m. today against Oregon Tech. The Raiders fired off their first 15 shots without a goal until freshman Sarah Garoutte was taken down in the box in the 26th minute. They were awarded a penalty kick, which Ward took and got past a lunging Leah O'Halloran to open the floodgates. Ward also scored SOU's second goal in the 39th minute, a straight-on line-drive from 20 yards out that was contacted by O'Halloran before it went through her legs. Totushek assisted Spangler's first career goal with three seconds left in the half from the right side of the box following a corner kick. Simpson, which started the game without a substitute, was worn down in the second half and often played with 10 on the field. SOU scored its first six goals of the second half within 13 minutes, starting with Lambert and Kapp. For showing up, SOU keepers Kylie Moltzen and Andi Rasmussen were awarded a shared shutout. The only occasion in which SOU scored more goals was its Sept. 5, 2003 game against Mills College (Calif.), a 13-0 triumph to open the season.
