Guglielmino climbs to top of jockey standings By Mail Tribune staff Jul 02, 2020 10:44 AM A A GRANTS PASS — Jockey Kassie Guglielmino won three races on Wednesday, giving her seven victories in Grants Pass Downs’ two days of action this week and vaulting her to the top of the meet standings. Guglielmino has nine victories in six race dates, with the final three days set for Monday through Wednesday. Taylor Smith is second with seven. Guglielmino won the fifth, seventh and eighth races, teaming up with leading trainer Jorge Rosales in the fifth and eighth. Rosales has eight wins in 22 starts this summer. They triumphed with Hold That Smile in the eighth, the filly’s fifth win in six career races at GPD. She won the Shady Cove Stakes on opening day. Trainer Jim Gilmour also saddled two winners, in the sixth and ninth races. Grants Pass High graduate Diego Guerrero won for the first time as a trainer in the fourth race with Holi Van Gogh. His father, Jose, was the jockey. A record handle of $249,620 was set, including $237,208 off track. Action resumes with the only Monday race day of the summer meet. Post time is 4 p.m. The featured race is the Firecracker Futurity in the eighth. It will have a purse of $60,000, the largest ever offered at GPD.
