She was born March 3, 1945 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Ren and Esther Ells. She lived in Los Angeles until she was 11 years old, when her family moved to Temple City, Calif. In 1958, she and her family moved to Medford, Ore. There, she graduated from high school in 1963. After high school she worked at several jobs in the Medford area, using secretarial skills learned in high school. She was a very dependable worker and did well in her field. She worked for Payne and Struble, Architects of Medford. She later went to work for Judge L. L. Sawyer as a court clerk and then legal secretary. After retiring from the State of Oregon, she managed the Eagles Lodge bar and restaurant in Medford. She worked there until she had to again retire due to health issues. She married Loren J. Johnson Sr. of Central Point, Ore. February 12, 1981. They made their home in Medford for 33 years, when Loren passed away. Minda then moved to Hillsboro, Ore. to live with her daughter and family. In February, 2016, she moved to Avamere’s assisted living center at Hillsboro until her death. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Kipp (Gary) of Hillsboro, Ore.; her sister, Julie Byron (Paul) of Jamestown, N.D.; three stepdaughters; one daughter-in-law; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Ells (2015); and stepson, Loren J. Johnson Jr. (Swede). Minda and Loren loved their combined families. They enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and their many lodge friends. Many of their friends became like family. Minda had several health issues over the years that she struggled with, but none kept her from enjoying life. Minda’s celebration of life was held Sunday, April 24, 2016 in Hillsboro, Ore. At a later date, at the request of Loren and Minda, their combined ashes will be scattered in a private family service.
