Justin Douglas Jones, 39, of the 3100 block of Cedar Links Drive, was jailed on first- and second-degree robbery charges and a charge of felon in possession of a firearm after being arraigned in Jackson County Circuit Court Thursday. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail without bail.  Jones is suspected of robbing the Purple Parrot at 1913 Delta Waters Road. Police allege Jones entered the establishment and approached an employee. He then walked behind the counter and took her to the business's back room while pointing a silver handgun at her. He then stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.  The employee was not hurt, nor were the three customers in the store during in the incident.  Medford police shared images and a description of the suspect on Facebook and Twitter. The agency says "viable" tips began to come in, and eventually led police to suspect Jones. A nationwide warrant was issued for Jones' arrest. Police tracked Jones to a wooded area about six miles west of Selma. Once there, they spotted his vehicle at the Store Gulch Campground, located along the Illinois River. Josephine County Sheriff's Department deputies and Oregon State Police assisted, and police arrested Jones. The gun believed to have been used in the robbery was recovered. Court records show Jones has been convicted of several felonies stretching back to the mid-1990s.
