August 10. 2015 2:00AM Mavericks stay alive at regionals LOGAN, Utah — The North Medford Mavericks baseball team used offensive prowess to stay alive in the American Legion A Northwest Regional at Logan High School on Sunday. The Mavericks, who suffered their first loss Saturday in the double-elimination tournament, collected 11 hits to top Logan, Utah, 7-3. North Medford will take on the Bitterroot Red Sox of Montana today at 1 p.m. PDT. Larson Kindreich capped the Mavericks’ two-run seventh inning with a double that drove home Dakota Adams. Bennett Rodgers’ single plated Honus Kindreich earlier in the frame. Berry Hunt was effective at the mound through nine innings for the Mavericks, who improved their record to 2-1 at the tournament. He threw 129 pitches and allowed three runs — just two earned — on seven hits and two walks and struck out seven. Larson Kindreich went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and a pair of RBIs, while Adams went 2-for-4 and scored twice. WCL Baseball MEDFORD 5, CORVALLIS 0 : At Corvallis, with help from DJ Wilson, the Medford Rogues finished their season with a shutout victory over Corvallis at Goss Stadium. Wilson improved to 3-1 by going six inning and allowing five hits and one walk to go with four strikeouts. The Rogues, who fell short of the playoffs and finished the season with a 25-27 WCL record, provided early run support for Wilson with two runs in the first inning thanks to back-to-back RBI singles by Nathan Etheridge and Stefan Panayiotou. Tony Roque struck in the top of the fourth for the Rogues with an RBI triple then scored on J.J. Kitaoka’s single. Kitaoka also scored in the sixth inning on an error after reaching base on an error. Etheridge and Derron Davis collected two hits apiece for the Rogues, who pounded out 10 in the contest.
