Teenage girl dies in wreck on Hwy. 238 One teenage girl died and another was hospitalized Thursday night after a pickup they were driving veered off Jacksonville Highway and struck a tree. The passenger's side of the silver Dodge Dakota truck was obliterated by the impact of the crash. One of the girls, the passenger, apparently died before medical crews arrived at the scene, about a half mile west of Hanley Road. Late Thursday, officials had yet to identify the passenger or the driver, who was taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center for treatment. "She looked good. The driver looked fine," said Fire District No. 3 Capt. Steve Cox. According to police, the truck was traveling east on Highway 238 shortly before 9 p.m. when it ran off the road. At 10:15 p.m., the girl's body remained inside the truck, draped with a white sheet. Officials were waiting for the county medical examiner to arrive and evaluate the scene. Meanwhile, a nursing supervisor at RVMC said the driver was being evaluated at press time, but she could not provide any details about the girl's condition or her injuries.
