Jason Torres was listed in fair condition at Rogue Valley Medical Center after undergoing surgery for wounds to his side and arm, Medford Police Lt. Tim George said. Two assailants fled in a forest green Ford Aerostar van after the 3:20 p.m. incident at Western Avenue and West Main Street. The van had California license plates, number 2RKU310. Police were seeking two Hispanic men in their 20s in connection with the incident. One was described as 6 feet tall, 200 pounds and very muscular, with short dark hair. He was wearing a white jersey. The other was described as 5-foot-4, stocky, with dark hair, dressed in baggy clothing. Advertisement Blood smeared a yellow plastic picnic table near the Black Bird entrance as police questioned a young man who said he was involved in the fight. George said Torres staggered into the parking lot after the stabbing. Bystanders helped him to the table, where he awaited medical attention. Witnesses said several men began shouting and fighting in the street near the Black Bird parking lot on West Main Street. "It was just some guys wrestling in the road, it was some kind of fight," said Jeff Canon, 25, of Medford. "I just saw them jump in the car and leave." A bystander, who didn’t want to be identified for fear of retribution, said the fight started outside a nearby jewelry store. "One guy just started stabbing another guy," he said. George said it appeared that the assailants and the victim knew each other. "I’m not so sure this was random," he said. Police were seeking the public’s help in tracking the attackers.
