POT DISPENSARY Former Ashland police chief not involved in dispensary operations Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 8, 2014 at 1:53 PM Posted Dec. 8, 2014 at 1:53 PM » Social News Former Ashland Police Chief Vic Lively sold an Ashland building to a man who has proposed to open a medical marijuana dispensary, but Lively has no involvement in the ownership or operation of the proposed dispensary. A story that appeared in Monday's Mail Tribune was incorrect. The Mail Tribune and Daily Tidings reported that Lively, who retired as chief of the Ashland Police Department in 1991, was listed as one of the owners of a proposed dispensary at 488 N. Main St. in Ashland on an application for change of use filed with the city's planning department this fall. Lively's son, David Lively, says the family isn't involved in any way with the proposed business itself, and merely sold the property to Michael Lisk of Gold Hill. "My parents are pillars of the community and don't want to be in the limelight," David Lively said. ""We just sold him the property." The names of Vic Lively and his wife, Claudia, appear on the planning document because they were still the owners of record of the building at the time the application was submitted. Vic Lively said Monday he had heard rumors that the site would be used for a dispensary but had little involvement in the sale and no involvement in any way with plans for the dispensary. The Livelys sold the building, which formerly housed Claudia Lively's real estate business, to Lisk in October for $320,000, according to Jackson County property records. At the time the first article was published, the reporter was unable to reach Vic Lively for comment.  The public notice of the complete application is dated Oct. 15, a day after the sale of the property to Lisk closed, indicating the application had been filed by Lisk while the Livelys still owned the building — hence their names appeared on the application. Lisk has declined to discuss his business plans with the Mail Tribune.
