Cassandra Fawn Arnspiger, 35, of the first block of Dion Court, pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and harassment in Jackson County Circuit Court. Arnspiger's boyfriend told the Jackson County Sheriff's Department he was breaking up with her on Sept. 17, which led to an altercation that day, according to an affidavit. The boyfriend said she struck him in the face with a mallet, the affidavit said. The blow caused a laceration on his face, swelling and a bloody nose. Arnspiger made several false statements that did not match up with the boyfriend's injuries or a witness statement, the affidavit alleged. Arnspiger has a pre-trial conference for the case set for Nov. 30, court records show. In 2013, Arnspiger was charged with third-degree robbery, unlawful possession of marijuana, fourth-degree assault, harassment and third-degree theft for allegedly injuring a woman during a robbery with an alleged accomplice. She pleaded guilty to harassment in the case in 2014 and was sentenced to 11 months' probation.
