Vacant state site to be sold Do you know what is going to be done with the Oregon State Police facility on North Pacific Highway? It appears to be vacant. Who owns the property? -- Emily C., Medford This is an easy one, Emily. The property belongs to the Oregon Department of Transportation, which doesn't need it anymore and plans to sell it soon. For years the site served as district headquarters for ODOT and OSP. For those of you not familiar with it, the property is in the 2600 block of North Pacific Highway (across from the entrance to the Medite mill) and features three tan office buildings as well as a couple of garage-like outbuildings. Both agencies abandoned the site in recent years. ODOT moved first, joining forces with the Jackson County road department at a new complex off Antelope Road near White City. OSP followed suit about two years ago, moving farther up the road to new headquarters near Crater High School. The regional OSP dispatch center was last to go, moving earlier this spring. Now vacant, the old site was appraised last week and is being prepared for sale as surplus government property, according to ODOT employee Vivian Payne.
