Receptions for the artists will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at Art du Jour Gallery and Rogue Gallery & Art Center. Baumann, who hosted PBS' painting series "The Grand View: America's National Parks Through the Eyes of an Artist" and author of "Observations of Art and Nature," travels throughout America's western landscapes, painting vistas on location with oils on canvas. In episodes of "The Grand View," he takes paints, brushes and canvas and hikes deep into National Parks to capture his vision of nature and share his passion for wilderness and art. He paints in the artistic style of romantic realism, pioneered by American masters who traveled throughout the West in the 1800s to paint similar landscapes. The PBS series, which ran weekly from 2003 to 2012, will rebroadcast beginning in February on SOPTv's Create channel for arts. A selection of oil paintings by Baumann — featuring dramatic vistas, wildlife in its natural habitat, rustic architecture and stunning views from national parks — will be displayed through Friday, Jan. 30, in the main gallery at Art du Jour, 213 E. Main St.  Landscapes, still life, portraits and animal art by the 16 artists of The Grand View Fine Arts Society — all students of Baumann's — will be displayed in Art du Jour's salon gallery. Grand View includes members from Jackson, Josephine and Klamath counties. One of Baumann's students, Lori Garfield of Medford, paints animal art. "Baumann teaches not only the staples of color, light, edges and composition, he also shares knowledge of the business of art — an important element to those aspiring to a professional career."  Baumann paints on location and in his studio near Weed, Calif. His revelations of the true spirit of nature can transport viewers to lands that have gone unseen and undisdisturbed. “I let the paintings speak for themselves," he says in a press release. "They are elegant and mysterious, exciting and bold. I try to capture a feeling, a sense of place, and the magic of light in all of my paintings.” Art du Jour Gallery also will display artwork by its 20 members, including a selection of holiday gifts that include jewelry, scarves, cards and small paintings. Art du Jour Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Call 541-770-3190.   "The Sky is the Limit," the 2014 members exhibit, culminates Friday, Dec. 19, with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rogue Gallery & Art Center, 40 S. Bartlett St. Look for a cappella group Second Wind, along with wine, sparkling cider, cheese from Rogue Creamery and snacks from Harry & David. Watercolor, acrylic, oil and pastel paintings as well as sculpture by more than 60 artists will be featured in the exhibit in the main gallery. Oil paintings and dry brush drawings by the late Eugene Bennett will be displayed until Saturday, Dec. 20, in the community gallery.  Bennett was born in Central Point and raised in Medford. After a three-year stint in the U.S. Navy, he attended the Art Institute of Chicago, then traveled to Italy and France. He was a successful artist when he returned to Chicago, but decided to return to Oregon. He taught classes in his home on Grape Street and in 1959 helped found the Rogue Gallery. His last move was to Jacksonville, where he purchased an old saloon, converted it into his home and studio and continued to paint, sculpt, draw and create collages. Proceeds from the sale of Bennett's art will benefit the Rogue Gallery & Art Center's Endowment and the Oregon Community Foundation. Rogue Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The gallery will close at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, and reopen Friday, Jan. 2. Call 541-772-8118.
