Each week through Dec. 24, a collection truck will pick up leaf bags from Medford residents, according to their designated zones, for no additional charge. Anyone within the Medford city limits is eligible for leaf pickup. The service helps keep the Medford drainage system clear during the winter months, according to a Rogue Disposal press release. Those living north of Main Street can have their bagged leaves picked up Nov. 2-6, Nov. 23-27 and Dec. 14-18. Those living south of Main Street and in the Cherry Lane area will see pickup Nov. 9-13, Nov. 30-Dec. 4 and Dec. 21-24. Medford residents can use their own heavy-duty (30-35 gallon) plastic bags or, while supplies last, can get 10 bags at no cost or 30 for $1 at the Rogue Disposal Customer Service Center, Suite 401, 1 West Main St., Medford. This is the last year that Rogue Disposal will offer bags. Residents are advised to leave their leaf bags on their curb. If they do not have a curb, they should place their bags off the roadway, about 8 feet from the pavement. Since leaf collection is not associated with trash collection, it will not necessarily occur on the regular trash day. The heavy-duty plastic bags must contain only leaves. There is no limit to the number of bags that can be set out. Bagged leaves must be placed at curb prior to the collection week. Crews will not pick up bags containing tree branches, lawn clippings or other debris. Filled bags should not weigh more than 40 pounds each and the top of the bags must be sealed.
