[JCSO photo] A 21-year-old woman is now safe after spending roughly nine hours in below freezing temperatures near Butte Falls Highway. The woman, who lives on Indian Creek Road, was found hypothermic and wet midday Sunday morning after getting lost overnight in the search for two of her dogs, according to a social media post on the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. At about 3 a.m. Sunday, the woman left her residence with two other dogs in the search for her animals, but police say she quickly got disoriented in temperatures below freezing. She spent the night walking with her dogs and ultimately found help about noon Sunday at a residence on Butte Falls Highway. Despite clothing appropriate for the weather, she needed to be treated at a nearby hospital for hypothermia after the nine hours in the cold. Overnight through Sunday morning, about 25 Jackson County Search and Rescue personnel searched for the woman, including a drone, ATK, K9 and fixed wing aircraft searchers.
