Instead, all property owners will clean up and dispose of their own garbage, without waiting for the coming of the city garbage wagon. In the past, it has been the custom for the city to pay for the hauling away of accumulated trash. Chief of Police Hittson served notice this morning that the city ordinances covering health regulations would be strictly enforced, and those who failed to obey it were liable to arrest. The authorities ask that all citizens at once begin cleaning up their backyards, alleys, etc. Several highly unsanitary barns in the residence district are under observation, and unless the owners take steps at once to better the conditions, warrants for arrest will be issued. Medford is the only city in the Rogue River Valley that has not officially declared a "Clean Up" day.   Squeamish people and converts of Rev. C.E. Dodge , who left town a week ago under orders from a brother of one of his women followers, were given a thrill Saturday night by Russell Edmeades and a party of boys who journeyed to the top of Roxy Ann and exploded skyrockets as a travesty on the prophecy that the mountain was to erupt, and the valley to be destroyed. Strange as it may seem, a number of people saw in the rockets flashing across the sky the fulfillment of the dire forecast, and sincerely believed the appointed time had come. Some maintain that the sides of Roxy Ann have changed, though people who have gazed upon the peak for 30 years note no shifting of the topography. Several residents of the east side of Roxy Ann were frightened by the red lights burned. It now develops that some of the women converts of the Rev. Dodge were so completely under his influence that they resigned their positions to go forth as missionaries of the doctrines he expounded. It was at this juncture that relatives stepped in, and the Rev. Dodge was forced to leave town.
