By Sam Wheeler Mail Tribune September 19. 2014 5:04PM Most charges dropped against Green Compass owner Mike Schanno A Jackson County judge on Friday dropped numerous felony charges brought against the owner of two medical marijuana businesses that were raided by police more than a year ago.  Michael Schanno's medical marijuana businesses, the Medford-based Green Compass and Gold Hill-based The Compass, were raided by the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement task force in May 2013, along with Medford establishments  Southern Oregon NORML and Puffin' Stuff.  Schanno, 41, was charged with four counts of conspiracy to deliver marijuana, four counts of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana, two counts of delivery of marijuana, manufacture of marijuana and tampering with evidence. He initially entered pleas of not guilty to those charges. On Friday, all of the charges except a count of unlawful delivery of marijuana were dropped by Jackson County Circuit Judge Kelly Ravassipour in a deal in which Schanno pleaded guilty to the single charge. Schanno was sentenced to 11 months' probation, said his attorney, Christopher Missiaen. In a previous interview, Schanno described his Gold Hill business as a  wellness center o ffering access to medical marijuana for patients with state-issued medical marijuana cards and as a resource for new cardholders seeking guidance on growing marijuana. In July, Jackson County Circuit Judge Lorenzo Mejia dismissed numerous racketeering and money laundering charges against SONORML operators Lori Duckworth and her husband, Leland Duckworth. They both pleaded guilty to a single count of felony delivery of marijuana as part of a plea bargain. Twenty-two other charges against Lori Duckworth were dismissed, as were another 27 charges against her husband. David James Bond, who was charged with eight counts of conspiracy to delivery marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of a firearm and racketeering because of his affiliation with  Puffin' Stuff, is scheduled to face trial on Oct. 10 in Jackson County Circuit Court, Oregon Judicial Department records show.   Reach reporter Sam Wheeler at 541-776-4471 or [email protected].
