Beugli leads Ashland past Henley in non-conference softball tilt ASHLAND Junior pitcher Megan Beugli allowed one run in the first inning then blanked Henley the rest of the way as Ashland registered a 4-1 victory over Henley in non-conference softball Friday at North Mountain Park. Beugli struck out seven and walked one in picking up her second victory in as many decisions. The Grizzlies (2-1) bunched two of their three hits in the fifth inning to score all four runs. Stefani Talbott opened the winning rally with a leadoff single. Anna Harris followed with a walk and one out later Hanna Elliott singled to load the bases. Talbott scored on Jenna Gravens bunt. Graven was thrown out at first but the runners advanced. Beugli struck out, but reached first on a passed ball, allowing Harris to score. Cat Clasons sharp grounder to third was booted as Elliott crossed the plate. Clason got in a rundown and pinch-runner Tessa Maurer came around to score the final run. Ashland will visit Rogue River for a 4 p.m. game on Monday. Bryan Clevengers bases-loaded triple in the fourth inning against Yreka helped break the game open as the Grizzlies (2-1) used a seven-run surge to take an 11-2 lead. Clevenger added an RBI double in the fifth inning and finished with five RBIs. Charles Dotterrer went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while Tim Hegdahl added three hits and two RBIs. In the nightcap, Dotterrer followed a leadoff double by Titus Weston with a run-scoring single to give Ashland a 1-0 lead over Etna. Weston added a suicide squeeze in the second to score Chris Presicci to make it 2-0. After Etna tied the game with two runs in the fourth, the host team scored the game-winner in the sixth following a leadoff blooper for a single, an error, a double steal and a miscue on a pickoff attempt at third base. Dotterrer and Mike Allen each went 2-for-3 in the nightcap.
