The 22-year-old woman is enrolled at Rogue Community College with plans to become a drug and alcohol counselor. Her nine-year battle with addiction followed by recovery through OnTrack’s Home Program inspire the woman to strive for her children’s health and happiness while reaching for her dreams. The Home Program provides treatment in a residential setting designed to strengthen the bonds between mother and children. The women learn life skills, such as obtaining and maintaining employment and managing money, in addition to parenting. Infants receive care in the program’s nursery, and older children attend therapeutic day care. The woman said she wrested a moment of clarity from her drug-induced haze. Her selfishness wasn’t just ruining her own life, she realized, but also her kids’ chances. Pregnant at 16, she shuffled first in and out of school, then in and out of jail. Her 6-year-old son is getting his start at Kids Unlimited Academy. Fond of Legos and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, he needs size 6 pants and shirts and size 1 shoes. Both mother and son lack socks, underwear and winter coats. The woman would love a pair of warm boots in size 6½, medium/large juniors shirts and pants in size 9-11. Her 7-month-old daughter could use clothes in size 9-12 months. The family also needs bath towels, soap or body wash, lotion and shampoo and conditioner.
