CRIME Tires slashed on nearly 20 cars in north Medford Comment By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune MailTribune.com By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune Posted Dec. 10, 2014 at 11:41 AM Updated Dec 10, 2014 at 4:49 PM By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune Posted Dec. 10, 2014 at 11:41 AM Updated Dec 10, 2014 at 4:49 PM » Social News Medford police are still on the hunt for vandals who slashed the tires on close to 20 vehicles in north Medford neighborhoods earlier this week. The incidents were reported on Monday on Hilton Road, Nordic Court, Poplar Drive, Jackson Street, Corona Avenue, Coquette Street, Jubilant Avenue and La Mesa Street, Medford police reported. Most of the damages involved a single tire slashed on each vehicle, but some had multiple tire punctures. The air was let out of some tires. Police suspect the vandalism was caused by two or more juveniles. "That's just typical based on our experience with this activity in the past. Nobody saw anything," Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said. The damages totaled about $2,500, Budreau said. Police don't think the tire slashings are the work of vandals who threw pumpkins at cars last month. In that case, suspects drove through several east Medford neighborhoods in a gray SUV hurling whole pumpkins at cars. The projectiles shattered windshields, sheared off side mirrors and put sizable dents in the cars. "You're kind of looking at a little bit different area of town," Budreau said. "The affected area (in the tire slashing case) is relatively small compared to the pumpkin case. That was kind of spread out." There are no new leads on the pumpkin smashing case, though police do believe a juvenile named "Taylor" was involved. "Kind of surprised nobody came forward on that," Budreau said. "We never got intel back on that case." Both vandalism cases have rewards offered from Crimestoppers. Up to $1,000 is being offered if information leads to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information on the cases is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-850-0580 or Medford police at 541-770-4784. Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected] .
