Participants should arrive dressed to be out in the field, and should be prepared for unpredictable weather. Supplies and materials will be provided. Registration is required. Drive Out Drugs Recovery Walk: Foundations for Recovery will lead a Drive Out Drugs Recovery Walk from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Pfaff Park in Central Point. The event will include food vendors, local merchants and information about drug and alcohol education, and will serve as a fundraiser for the organization’s efforts to help those struggling with addiction. Antiques and Collectibles Event: The 32nd annual Southern Oregon Antiques & Collectibles Club Fall Show and Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway. Events will include an identification boot appraising items for $3 apiece, a glass and doll restoration event, and a quilting event. See www.grangecoop.com. Car-free Crater Lake: If you want to catch some stellar views of Crater Lake without the rumble of cars, this is your last shot this year. On Saturday, Sept. 27, East Rim Drive will be closed to cars, allowing hikers, bikers, walkers, runners and other visitors to enjoy views without vehicle traffic. The vehicle-free section will stretch from the north junction of East Rim Drive to park headquarters. Visitors can park in a gravel lot a quarter-mile south of park headquarters near the south entrance. Lost Creek Campground will be closed that day. Rogue River Cleanup: In celebration of National Public Lands Day, several cleanups will be held along the Rogue River from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. Meeting spots will be McGregor Park, Casey State Park, TouVelle State Park, Fisher's Ferry and the Gold Hill Sports Park. Volunteers will pick up garbage both in-stream and along the banks. Volunteers will be provided with gloves, garbage bags, water, first-aid kits and guidance, and lunch will be provided at 1 p.m. at TouVelle. To register, call 541-261-7796 or email [email protected]. Umpqua Hot Springs cleanup: Volunteers are needed for a National Public Lands Day cleanup at the Umpqua Hot Springs trailhead on Saturday, Sept. 27 to replace a signboard, pick up litter, and remove brush and invasive weeds. The site is the portal to the popular hot springs, where heavy use has created damage to the site, including graffiti, unsightly camping sites and litter. Work will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting in the parking lot for the springs. A shuttle will leave from the North Umpqua Ranger Station in Glide at 7:45 a.m. Work gloves, garbage bags, rakes, pruners and saws will be provided. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Bring a lunch to eat with the group or on your own after the work party while you explore the surrounding area. Volunteers are encouraged to register ahead by calling Janie Pardo at 541-496-4178. Sterling Mine Ditch Trail project: BLM is hosting a National Public Lands Day event on Saturday, Sept. 27, on the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail. Volunteers will help reroute a steep section of trail at the tunnel at the junction of the Tunnel Ridge access trail, decommission the old trail section, and install an interpretive sign at the tunnel. A moderate 1-mile hike is required to get to the work site. Bring water and gloves. Lunch provided. The Siskiyou Upland Trails Association will bake treats for everyone to enjoy. Meet at the Tunnel Ridge Trailhead of the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail on Little Applegate Road. Work will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For detailed driving directions, go to www.sutaoregon.org. AAUW Yard Sale: The Ashland branch of the American Association of University Women will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, and 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at 430 Merrill Circle, 390 Iowa St. and 814 Glendower St. Proceeds will benefit students at local colleges. Music in the Mountains: The fifth annual festival of bluegrass, country and folk music will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28, at the Prospect Historic Hotel, 391 Mill Creek Drive, Prospect. Look for regional bands, craft booths, a quilt show, food, wine and beer. The Prospect Search and Rescue Team will offer breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. each day. An open jam session will kick off the event at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, and another jam will be held at 9 p.m. Saturday. Bring lawn chairs and blankets, but no pets. Blue Lightning: The rock band will perform from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, as part of Kriselle Cellars' anniversary celebration. Sunday, Sept. 28 Eyes to Burma Fundraiser: Ashland nonprofit organization Eyes to Burma will have its sixth annual fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at Grizzly Peak Winery, 1600 E. Nevada St. Proceeds will go toward giving underprivileged children of Burmese refugees an opportunity to go to school in Mae Sot, Thailand. See www.eyestoburma.org. OSF Green Show: San Diego eight-piece world music band Todo Mundo will give a free performance at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, on the bricks at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 15 S. Pioneer St., Ashland. The band blends influences of Rumba, Reggae, Samba and Middle Eastern music styles. The festival offers free presentations and performances from local, national and international artists Tuesdays through Sundays.
