Cindy was born in Battle Creek, Mich. to parents Phyllis and Arthur Spies. She grew up in a large, loving family of three brothers and two sisters. The family moved across the United States numerous times living in New York, Oregon, Washington State, and Connecticut before settling again in Oregon. Cindy graduated from Oakland High School and attended Umpqua Community College. Her work history was varied, working for Lilly Miller Co. in seed display and the Forest Service as a tree planter to name a few, before becoming employed by Jackson County Roads Department where she worked for 28 years. A little over 6 months ago, after two years of cancer treatment in Arizona, she returned home to Oregon to be supported by her loving family and friends. She reveled in the abundant attention, outings, and daily visits. Cindy’s wit, wild sense of humor, acceptance, and love of everyone she met were just some of her wonderful qualities. She was truly loved and admired by all who met her. Cindy will be greatly missed. Some of her favorite things were gardening, being outdoors, exercising, Crater Lake, all animals (which she readily adopted), sunflowers, photography, reading the Bible, and adventures. She is survived by her daughter, Janelle Farber; sisters, Julia Burg and Pamela Walker; brothers, Kurt, Eric, and Greg Spies; parents, Phyllis and Arthur Spies; numerous loving nieces and nephews, and a long list of friends. The family would especially like to thank the caregivers and nurses from Pioneer Village and Asante Hospice for their constant loving care and attentiveness. A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Cantrall Buckley Park pavilion. Bring your fondest, funniest memories and a dessert to share.
