Central Point Tree Lighting and Parade: More than 20 entries comprise the Central Point Community Christmas Lights Parade, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in downtown Central Point. The parade will begin at Seventh Street and travel down Pine Street to Second Street. Family activities and Santa's arrival are planned afterward at Central Point City Hall, 140 S. Third St. The Central Point Parks Foundation will sell LED light products for $5 to raise money for park playground renovations. Enjoy dance team and choir performances, children's books given out by the Table Rock Kiwanis, hotdogs, cotton candy, crafts, games and other activities. Eagle Point Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa Visit: Enjoy a caroling concert at 6 p.m. and a tree lighting at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Bob Moore Park in downtown Eagle Point, followed by Santa's arrival at about 7:30 p.m. at the Ashpole Community Center at Eagle Point City Hall, 17 S. SOU Percussion Ensembles: The percussion groups at Southern Oregon University, directed by Terry Longshore, will present “Contact,” featuring Daniel Kennedy of California State University, Sacramento and SOU percussion instructor Bryan Jeffs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, off South Mountain Avenue, Ashland. The program will include the premiere of Jeff's third installment of the Rebel Frog trilogy, "The Revel Frog Wassails, along with his "Contactual Constellations," performed by the SOU Graduate Percussion Group. "Contactual Constellations" is a work for graphic musical scores printed directly onto drumheads. Performances are captured on video and projected to the audience. Flamenco Concert: Seattle-based Flamenco dancer Savannah Fuentes will present her latest show, "Noches de Invierno," at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. She will be joined by internationally recognized Flamenco singer Jose Anillo of Spain and Bulgarian guitarist Bobby de Sofia. Community Play Opening: The opening performance for Thanks for the Memories Theatre Company's production of "Almost, Maine" will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at 1287 Oak St., Ashland. The romantic comedy takes place in a fictional town in Maine, and is a series of vignettes that explore the ups and downs of falling in love. Performances run 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 14. Christmas Book Sale: The Jacksonville Friends of the Library will sponsor a Christmas Book Sale in the Naversen Room of the Jacksonville library, 340 W. C St. A members' pre-sale is from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. The book sale is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. Beekman House Victorian Christmas: Experience a Victorian Christmas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in December at the historic Beekman House, 470 E. California St., Jacksonville. Victorian-costumed docents will share the origins of many popular Christmas traditions along with stories of Beekman family holiday festivities in the 1800s. Tours begin every 15 minutes and last one hour. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors ages 65 and up and students age 6 through 12. Purchase tickets at the door. Tour admission is $2 on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 27-28, for people who bring a canned food item for ACCESS. For people who wish to pay the full tour admission, the difference will be donated to ACCESS. Entrance to a Christmas bazaar with antiques, hand-crafted items, old-fashioned toys and more is free. Oakdale Ave., Medford. Proceeds will go toward the medical expenses of BUGS-R-US Educational Services founder and insect enthusiast John Jackson, who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. Festival of Trees: Medford Civic Ballet and the Dance Arts Academy will perform at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Festival of Trees at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway, Medford. Over 100 performers will be on-hand offering a variety of holiday entertainment including three generations of the Nutcracker toy soldiers family tappers, a Jingle Bell Rock hip-hop holiday dance, and an audience sing-a-long with the 12 Days of Christmas. Look for skating routines by individuals, pairs and groups to various holiday songs with costumes and props. Fifteen skaters from the Southern Oregon Figure Skating Club will present a finale titled "A '50 and '60s Rock 'n' Roll Holiday Medley." Admission is $5.
