Shelby Sue Freidel, 19, of the 2400 block of Stevens Road in Eagle Point has been charged with attempted second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and harassment. She pleaded not guilty to all charges Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court. On Oct. 14, Freidel allegedly chased a man around a living room and attempted to stab him with two kitchen knives during an argument. The man was able to fend off the alleged attack by keeping furniture between him and Freidel, an affidavit said. Several stab marks were found in a couch and coffee table, the affidavit said. Freidel allegedly cut her hand during the argument, dropped the knives and punched the man in the chest and arms. Blood from Freidel's cut hand was on the man, the affidavit said. The man said Freidel was allegedly within arm's reach at one point with the knives and he thought she was going to stab him badly, the affidavit said. Freidel was taken to the Jackson County Jail and released on her own recognizance. She has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled for Dec. 21, court records show.
