John M. Sharp, of Medford, was pronounced dead Sunday morning at the Rogue Valley Medical Center, where he had been treated for his injuries since the accident, Medford police reported. The accident occurred about 7:45 a.m. at the Barnett Road intersection with the northbound off ramp at Interstate 5’s exit 27, police said. Troy Ferguson, 34, of Phoenix, stopped his pickup at a red light, then turned east onto Barnett Road from a northbound freeway off-ramp. Ferguson apparently did not see Sharp driving a motorized cart in the crosswalk, police said. The truck struck Sharp at a low speed, knocking him to the ground, police said. Advertisement Ferguson suffered head injuries in the accident, police said. No arrests were made an no charges have been filed to date in connection with the case, Medford police Lt. Tim George said Monday. An autopsy was scheduled for today, then the case will be presented to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office, George said.
