Main St. in Talent near City Hall. The event website, http://dayofthedeadrace.com , says the races promote healthy habits and commemorate the long-celebrated Mexican holiday, which honors the dead with altars and "ofrendas" or offerings of favorite items. There will be 1-mile, 5K and 10K races. There will also be mariachi music, traditional dance groups, Zumba and break dancers, and a post-race party with Mexican and Latin American food, face painting, crafts and booths for children. Costumes are welcome and will be judged after the race, organizers said. The race route runs down West Main Street to Foss Road, according to a website map. Runners in the 5K race will continue on Tarry Lane, then Beeson Lane, before turning around to come back. Racers in the 10K will continue onto Adams Road before turning around and running back on the same route. Registration costs $15 for the mile run, $37 for the 5K run and $42 for the 10K run. Runners can register on the day of the race from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. near the starting line. Discounts of $5 are available for 5K and 10K race entrants who register online today.
