The Siskiyou Music Project is bringing in seven-string guitar master Howard Alden from New York. Considered one of the best jazz guitarists in the world, Alden will start dancing on the strings at 7 p.m. at Paschal Winery, 1122 Suncrest Road, Talent. Say it Ain't Over: The Medford Rogues will play their final baseball game of the season today at 6:35 p.m. against the Corvallis Knights, and Mail Tribune staffers will be there in force to watch the ending of another fine season. All week Each August, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival holds a community fundraiser, The Daedalus Project, to benefit local, regional, national and international HIV/AIDS organizations. This 27th anniversary Daedalus Project, themed “Act V: The End of AIDS,” features events and fundraising sales Tuesday through Monday, Aug. 12-18, including the Daedalus Film Festival, the Daedalus 5K Fun Run, the first U.S. reading of the play “The Children’s Monologues,” and concludes with the always eagerly awaited Daedalus Variety Show. Wednesday Summer Strains: There's nothing like music in the park in the summer, especially when it's free. At 7 p.m., flamenco guitarist and recording artist Ottmar Liebert will perform with his band Luna Negra at Pear Blossom Park at the Commons, off Bartlett Street between Fourth and Fifth streets in downtown Medford. After more than two decades and six Grammy nominations, Liebert has learned how to soothe the savage beast — or at least how to soothe a summer crowd. Thursday This is your last chance to catch one of the hottest shows — and best deals — in town during the summer. Every Thursday, The Ashland City Band puts on a free show at 7 p.m. at the Butler Band Shell in Ashland's Lithia Park. This will be the final 2014 concert, and the program will include Morton Gould's "Pavanne" for solo trumpet, Greek folk songs, Gershwin songs and "A Disney Spectacular" with members of the Ashland Middle School summer band camp. The Dixieland Band will open at 6:15 p.m. Do yourself a favor and check it out before it's too late.
