State puts YMCA suspect on leave The former manager accused of embezzling money from the Rogue Valley Family YMCA has been relieved for now of her new state job. State Justice Department officials Monday placed Karen Vezina on administrative leave from her post as region manager for the Southern Division of Child Support. Vezina, who has held the position since June, has been working under a six-month "trial service" probation agreement, said Kristen Grainger, executive assistant to Attorney General Hardy Myers. "We�re gathering information and weighing our options," Grainger said. Vezina, 37, of Jacksonville, was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree theft in connection with $6,000 to $7,000 in cash missing from the YMCA. Medford police issued a criminal citation to Vezina two days after YMCA officials agreed to seek a legal investigation. Vezina, who was characterized as "cooperative" by investigators, was not lodged in the Jackson County Jail because she was not determined to a be a flight risk, according to police Lt. Tim George. First-degree theft is a class C felony involving more than $750 and less than $10,000.
