Medford School District officials said the message was found in a girls bathroom, and that it told of an incident that would take place today. District officials have declined specifics on the message's content, but don't believe there is a danger to students. "We have reason to believe it's a non-credible threat and believe it's safe to operate the school as normal," said district spokeswoman Natalie Hurd. The district sent out letters to parents of students Tuesday informing them of the threat and the amped-up police presence. "We will continue to work with the Medford Police Department to resolve this matter as quickly as possible," the note reads. Lt. Mike Budreau of Medford police said they don't have any suspects yet. The student arrested two weeks ago for allegedly writing a similar threat on the social media site Snapchat that threatened a school shooting is not suspected, as he was in custody at the time police believe the most recent note was written. "We don't believe that first individual that we already investigated on the case has anything to do with this one," Budreau said. Both the Snapchat message and the note found in the bathroom said the incidents would happen Jan. 27. Though police and school officials believe the threats are non-credible, they still are taking precautions. "We have an increase of both uniformed and plainclothes officers in the area," Budreau said. "It should be extremely safe." Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected] .
