Pauline Marie Mainwaring MailTribune.com Writer Posted Mar. 13, 2016 @ 2:00 am Posted Mar. 13, 2016 @ 2:00 am » Social News p bs:newslist StartDate="20121121" EndDate="p bs:datecalc Months="3"" DateSort="1" UseObjects="1" ObjectClass="81" Taxonomywords="2325,665" ExactTaxonomyMatch="1" Image="1" Count="4" --> Pauline Marie Mainwaring, 91, an artist, loving wife and mother, passed away February 22, 2016 in Seattle surrounded by those she loved most, her family. Pauline was a long-time resident of the Rogue Valley (Talent and Medford.) In the late '70s she graduated from Southern Oregon University with a degree in art and music education. She was talented as a painter and a classical pianist. By the age of five she was giving piano concerts and hailed as a child prodigy. As an accomplished artist she showed at the Rogue Gallery and Art Center, belonged to the Northwest Watercolor Society, and painted weekly with other artists since 1952. Pauline was a founding member of Artist’s Workshop in the Rogue Valley. Talented though she was, she was first and foremost a wife and mother. As a young mother with a partially blind son, she worked hard advocating with other parents of blind children for their inclusion in the public schools. Pauline was happily married for 71 years to WWII pilot, Norman K. Mainwaring. He died September 6, 2014. She was a tireless supporter of Norm in his long career with Standard Oil, and in his many memberships in community organizations such as the Ashland Lions Club. Together they raised three loving children who grew up to have successful careers and families of their own. She will be remembered for her gentle, optimistic, unselfish, and kind nature. She is survived by her three children, Norman R. Mainwaring, Paul R. Mainwaring and Susan Barrett; two sisters, Patsy Fry and Jeanne Haith; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her life was celebrated in Seattle on March 12, 2016. For all of her Rogue Valley friends, a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Eagle Point National Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Lions Club, PO Box 3340, Ashland, Ore. 97520 MailTribune.com Writer Posted Mar. 13, 2016 @ 2:00 am » Comment or view comments Terms of Service /* $( document ).ready(function() { // Jquery mobile is trying to style the button and leaving a blank gry button on top of a white button $("#viafouracoms .vf-comment-controls li.vf-right").html(' Submit '); });*/ » STAY INFORMED Email NewsLetter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox. calendar Connect with MailTribune.com Facebook Twitter RSS Back to top Reader Services Reader Services Home Subscriptions Subscriber controls Contact us Submissions Photos Events Letters to the editor Corrections Announcements Obituaries Story ideas Since you asked Alerts Email Alerts RSS Feeds Text Alerts Advertise Media Kit Home Products and services Ad rates Advertising contacts Propel Marketing Mail Tribune Daily Tidings The Nickel Shop Our Valley Blogs Mobile Site Stay Informed Email newsletter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox.
