"Fitness can end with 'look at me' or 'look at what I can do,' but wellness is more of an overarching concept," explains Scott Draper, the club's general manager. "By definition, wellness doesn't end. We focus on that, building self-esteem through physical movement, not the opposite, which happens a lot in our society. We do whatever it takes to create an environment in which everyone has the greatest chance to succeed." The 100,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor facility at 2160 NW Vine St. has 7,200 club members and 108 staff members. The private athletic club offers over 80 group fitness classes, a giant cardio theater, multiple co-ed weight rooms and circuits, rock climbing, steam and sauna rooms, a women's-only workout studio, a Pilates and yoga studio, basketball, volleyball, tennis and racquetball. In the public areas, the club has a pro shop, juice bar, massive KidZone play area and complete medi-spa. Club Northwest takes their concept beyond fitness to green initiatives, such as a complete recycling program and earth-friendly cleaning products. They also have donated over $800,000 to community programs to help families and kids in need. "We are a dynamic combination of first-class facilities and equipment with a team of people who truly care about doing what matters," Draper says. "We love our members and our members love us!"
