Parents' bills mount with son's leukemia An account has been established at Western Bank for Rylee Gene Brown Fletcher, a 3-month-old suffering from leukemia. Rylee is the child of Matt Fletcher and Penny Serr of White City, who learned only three weeks ago that their seemingly healthy little boy was desperately ill. Within a day, he was flown to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland. When he arrived, he had one of the highest white blood cell counts ever recorded there, but he is now responding to treatment. The parents face three years of high medical bills and frequent trips to Portland because some of the treatments can only be performed there. Serr, a 1987 graduate of Crater High School, has had to give up her job as a receptionist to care for the child full-time. Fletcher, a 1986 graduate of Phoenix High, continues to work full-time for Western States Environmental, a division of Batzer Construction, specializing in hazardous waste removal.
