The guitar and vocal duo played a set of tight melodies and exciting acoustic riffs last Saturday night at the Rising Stars music competition that earned the boys a spot in the competition's finals to be held Saturday, March 28, at the Britt Pavilion Stage. With influences such as Elliot Smith, Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash, Joe Pug and Chris Isaak, the Reeds' music has evolved into a medley or original folk, bluegrass, pop and country. The two exchange witty banter and comedy while balancing serious songs about love and life. Aaron and Philip Reed won Rocky-Tonk Saloon's Road to Nashville music competition in 2014. They'll challenge Medford rock band The Evening Shades, Jacksonville vaudevillian-folk duo Intuitive Compass and alt-folk musicians Kites & Crows on March 28.
