Speedway prepares for season finale WHITE CITY - The season finale hits the Southern Oregon Speedway this weekend with some of the fastest dirt-racing stock cars in the nation coming to the White City track. The second annual Bud Cup is set for Friday and Saturday at the third-mile oval. Gates open at 4 p.m. each day with racing scheduled for 6. The main event will be an open-competition 100-lap race featuring outlaw cars on Saturday night. The late-model vehicles have more than 800 horsepower, 11-inch tires and sideboards that enable them to go faster around the corners. "They advertise these cars as the fastest dirt stock cars on the planet," Southern Oregon Speedway General Manager Jim Rogers said. "These things are ungodly fast." A $300-to-win open comp race for mini stocks and super trucks will highlight Friday's action that will also include time trials and qualifying for the outlaw cars. Along with the outlaw main event Saturday, a special pro stocks race will be held. Points champion Jim Walker, Jr., and his brother Tony, the points runner-up, are expected to compete. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors 60-and-over and children 7-12 on Friday. On Saturday, admission is $15 and $12.
